Anyone returning to work during Phase I or II of the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan will have access to licensed child care services, within Saskatchewan schools.
The Government of Saskatchewan made the announcement Thursday, stating centers will continue to operate within the guidelines of Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab, including a maximum of 8 children per room and increased sanitization measures. School based, child care facilities, were closed last month with more than 2100 spaces operating to support pandemic response workers. There is now space to provide accessibility to other workers within 47 school based centers. Approximately 350 non school based child care center continue to operate.
Deputy Premier and Education Minister Gordon Wyant extended appreciation to child care centers and staff who have continued to operate and recognized that parents, caregivers and families returning to work will need child care support as Saskatchewan gradually re-opens.
