Many businesses are struggling during this pandemic, which is why a local business owner has set up a Facebook page as a hub for local businesses and charities to connect with customers.
It’s called Eat. Drink. Shop. YXE.
Celine Dupuis’ Revamp Salon Company had to temporarily shut down in response to COVID-19, so she decided to start this group to bring the community together. Customers can share what they have purchased from local businesses and what their favourite items are and businesses and charities can post what they have on offer. Dupuis says it’s a one-stop shop to find everything local.
For business owners who have had to temporarily close their doors, Dupuis says it’s not something any of them would have ever managed and the biggest learning curve is how to pivot a strategy to bring in some money until they can re-open – for instance, some are trying curbside pick-up. She’s not surprised by the positive response because she believes Saskatoon is known for its residents having pride in the city and part of what makes the city strong is its commitment to local business.
