The Federal Government is investing in funds to create online platforms dedicated to online healthcare.
The Prime Minster announced $240-million to expand existing online tools and create new virtual platforms for mental health and primary care. Trudeau says mental health platforms will include strategies to manage stress or support from mental health professionals. The platform will also include resources for marginalized communities. The Prime Minister says the investment will include funding for virtual care, for times when you don’t need to see a doctor in person. He explains by helping doctors run appointments online people can stay safe at home and hospitals can focus on those who need it most.
Increase to Canada’s Child Benefit
Parents across the country will be receiving extra money during the month of May for Canada’s Child Benefit. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says parents should be able to focus on keeping their children safe and not on bill payments. He announced that this month’s Child Benefit payments will include an extra $300 per child, noting for families with two kids it equals an extra $600 and so on. The Prime Minister says the money can be used for whatever reason parents need it for, including online-tutoring or groceries.
