The Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation (SPSF) will be providing more than 500 families with needed support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cheer Crate campaign is underway, and will see packages full of food, learning materials and necessities, that will be delivered to families in need throughout May and June.
Zeba Ahmad, Executive Director with SPSF, says school coordinators reached out to families within their communities, to see if they needed support and what kind of support they could use. Ahmad adds they are trying to make Cheer Crates as personal as possible and even have teachers and principals reaching out, because they know their families best and what to do what they can to help their students. Corporations and businesses in the community have already began donating time and money towards the campaign, but the SPSF is looking for more support.
Ahmad says the more donations and money they can raise the more Cheer Crates they can create, she anticipates they will need more crates in June and encourages anyone who wants to help to seek out their website or social media.
