Saskatoon Police say when an officer tried to arrest a man shortly before 5:30 Saturday morning after getting a report he was armed with a machete – this is outside a building in the 18-hundred block of 22nd Street West – the officer ended up suffering minor injuries.
There was reportedly a group of people outside the location at the time and the individual of interest tried to bike away when police made it known they were taking him into custody which is when he allegedly starting pulling out a machete. While all this was going on, which the police department says involved a short physical altercation, a woman reportedly started interfering with the arrest.
When all was said and done, the officer suffered minor cuts to his arms from the machete, police seized methamphetamine and several pieces of stolen male and a 25 year old man is facing a variety of drug, weapon and assault a police officer charges.
