One person suffered serious burns in a fire at a multi-unit townhouse on the 24 hundred block of Kenderdine Road. Crews were sent out just before four o’clock Wednesday afternoon. They were alerted by a 9-1-1 hang-up call where little detail was provided before the caller hung up. Based on what they were told, crews were alerted from six fire stations. When firefighters arrived they found occupants already evacuating and only light smoke. The fire was near the stove and had extended into cupboards. It was under control in less than 10 minutes of arriving on the scene. The injured person was taken to hospital for treatment. A fire investigator is looking into the cause and a damage estimate.
