The City of Saskatoon is advising drivers to avoid 22nd Street at Idylwyld Drive because the intersection will be closed until tomorrow (Wed) afternoon. An emergency gas line repair was needed after the Saskatoon Fire Department discovered a noticeable odour and high concentration of natural gas in the area on Monday night.
SaskEnergy workers were able to seal the leak, but now it needs a new valve. Once the line is repaired, the excavation site will be paved and the intersection will re-open. Paving is scheduled for Wednesday.
The City suggests avoiding 22nd Street and consider east-west travel along 19, 20th or 33rd Streets. Expect delays and re-route your commute.
