The COVID-19 pandemic has cancelled many events and fundraisers, including those for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
The Brain Tumour walk program is held in 22 cities across the country, has been going on for 26 years and CEO Susan Marshall says they have never had a situation where their community can’t come together. Marshall says, for 2020, the foundation has moved to a virtual walk, allowing all cities to come together on the same day.
The foundation has selected June the 27th as Virtual Brain Tumor walk day to allow people to participate in their homes and backyards. Marshall says the 27th was picked because 27 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour everyday in Canada and that hasn’t stopped during the pandemic. Marshall adds they are asking fundraisers to ask 27 people to donate 10 dollars or 10 people to donate 27 dollars to support the foundation.
This year would have been 16th Brain Tumour walk in Saskatoon. Anyone interested in joining the virtual walk can currently register as an individual or as a team at www.braintumourwalk.ca
