The City of Saskatoon is working on a plan for a graduation for Grade 12 students this year.
The Director of the Emergency Management Organization says the critical infrastructure committee is working on it along with the school divisions, the Saskatoon Health Authority and the Saskatoon Police Service to ensure it is done safely, but those were all the details available at the Governance and Priorities Committee meeting.
Pamela Goulden-McLeod also reported that she has heard from residents and sector partners who are concerned about the re-opening of the province, with some thinking it’s too soon and others believing it should be happening more quickly.
She says these concerns are relayed to the province during weekly meetings and suggests the final decision is up to each individual to determine what they feel is safe, and act appropriately.
The EMO Director says if there is a second wave of the virus, they will work with the government and make recommendations for adjustments to the provincial orders.
She stresses that just because phase 2 has begun, doesn’t mean there won’t be more transmission of the virus.
Goulden-McLeod says the important thing is that these cases can be contained and tracked.
