The province says first quarter exports from Saskatchewan were valued at more than $7.4 billion. That was up 4.2 per cent over the same period a year ago. It was the fourth highest increase among the provinces. Nationally, exports declined by one per cent. Trade Minister Jeremy Harrison says, “These positive export numbers from the first three months of the year show that Saskatchewan has what the world needs, and our province is positioned for a strong economic recovery from the impact of COVID-19.” According to the province, exports to China and Brazil fell, but there was solid growth to Japan, the European Union, India, Mexico, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. The highest increases were seen in crude oil, canola seed, pulses, canola oil and meal, agricultural machinery, oats, and soya beans.
