The Napanee, Ontario Express won the Canadian Under-14 Boys Fastpitch-Softball Championship Wednesday at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex. Napanee won three straight games to capture the title, including an 11-3 decision over the Saskatoon Selects who ended up fourth.
Elsewhere, the Canadian Under-16 Boys event started Wednesday. The Rosebud Royals from the Wadena area are one of six teams that started 2-0. The Saskatoon Selects split their first two games while the Shellbrook Rangers lost twice.
Meanwhile, the Saskatoon Diamondbacks fell 6-5 to defending champion Owen Sound, Ontario as the Canadian Under-23 Men’s Championship continues at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex. The Diamondbacks are 3-1, tied for second place going into Thursday’s play. Also, the Conquest Coyotes are tied for sixth in the eight-team field at 1-3 while the Prince Albert Brewers are in the cellar at 0-4.
