The Saskatoon and Region Home Builders’ Association says building permits for housing continue to be down compared to 2018. But, there are signs of stability. The association says the mortgage stress test continues to disproportionately affect Saskatchewan home buyers; however, low interest rates and decreasing prices have benefited buyers. That has sped up absorption of current inventory. Builders are still seeing a down market compared to past years but the association says the industry is resilient against an especially tough set of circumstances.
