The provincial government is investing over $6 million to upgrade correctional facilities. The projects are part of the $7.5 billion two-year capital plan to stimulate Saskatchewan’s economic recovery. Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell says, “These projects will modernize our existing facilities to ensure they provide a safe environment for staff and offenders.” Most of the money – $4.6 million dollars worth – will be used to replace the Urban Camp and related facilities at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre. The Saskatoon facility will also see expansion of the Cultural Lodge program and upgrades to the razor wire.
