Saskatoon Police say an officer was almost hit be a vehicle Saturday after trying to pull it over. The incident occurred at 9:27 p.m, a patrol officer reports returning a stolen bicycle to it’s owner in the 500 block of Avenue G South when they heard a vehicle speeding nearby. The officer stepped into the road to wave the vehicle over and the driver initially slowed down but then accelerated toward the officer, who was able to jump out of the way.
The vehicle turned westbound on 18th Street and was then located on 11 Street where the driver police say the driver once again failed to stop. Police then discovered the vehicle crashed into a sign at Ortona Street and Currie Avenue with the occupants having fled on foot.
The Air Support Unit was able to direct Patrol officers to where they were hiding. Three people were arrested.
- A 21 year old man is charged with dangerous driving, evade police, refusing a breath demand, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and Assaulting a police officer.
- A 22 year old woman is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and was issued a Cannabis Summary Offence Ticket.
- A 19 year old man is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and was also issued a Cannabis Summary Offence Ticket.
The 22 year-old woman was released while the two men were being held to see a Justice of the Peace.
