There was a protest in front of the provincial legislature on Tuesday, which both Premier Scott Moe and Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab took the time to recognize during the daily COVID-19 update.
Moe was disheartened when he saw the vandalism at the Saskatchewan War Memorial with graffiti that said “Justice For Floyd” and #BLM for Black Lives Matter.
He expects that it was likely done by 1 person, meanwhile there were hundreds at the peaceful demonstration.
Moe didn’t attend the rally because he was traveling from his home in Shellbrook, while also stopping for meetings in Saskatoon.
Dr. Shahab says many may be concerned about the spread of COVID-19 with that many people attending the rally.
He recognizes there were circumstances surrounding the protest and he heard that many people took social distancing measures and wore masks.
Shahab suggests anyone who attended should keep an eye on their health in case COVID-19 symptoms appear. (CKRM)
