Many high schools are going virtual for their graduations, trying to find some way to honour and celebrate their Grade 12 graduates in a memorable way.
Superintendent Paul Janzen from Saskatoon Public Schools says there was a collaboration among the school divisions in Saskatoon and area to figure out safe ways to hold these events.
Saskatoon Public School students have been asked to submit pictures of themselves for a collage to be added to a pre-produced video, individualized for each school, including messages from Principals, the school board and the valedictorian.
Superintendent Scott Gay, with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, says their grads are coming to their school in small groups to individually walk across the stage and receive their diploma, to be added to a taped video for each school.
That way each parent will see their child cross the stage and receive a certificate.
The grads will pick up their caps and gowns ahead of time, so they have the opportunity to take family pictures in their backyard or in a park, as many grads have done before them in years past.
