There is good news and bad news with Saskatchewan’s merchandise export numbers.
Statistics Canada reports that Saskatchewan’s exports were down by 7.7 per cent in April to $2.58-billion compared to March.
The good news is the decrease was less than any other province experience.
The same goes for the year over year numbers with a decrease of 8.2 per cent in April, less than any other province, on a seasonally adjusted basis.
Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison says there is still a lot of hard work ahead to fully implement the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan, but these export numbers are a positive sign that our province is in a relatively good position compared to other jurisdictions and it bodes well for a strong economic recovery.
