Premier Scott Moe says he has concerns over any large gatherings, regardless of the cause, and hopes people will continue to abide by physical distancing measures and use good judgement.
The Premier was asked about large gatherings due to recent protests across the country, at Thursday’s media conference, in particular protests due to the death of George Floyd.
Moe suggested that many people in the province have forgone many large events, like memorials, worship services and weddings, some at great personal sacrifice. From a healthcare perspective, Moe says, this virus does not distinguish why you are at an event you are at, the decisions that make can not only keep you safe, but most certainly can those around you safe, your friends and family that you will see in the days after.
Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer added anything that can be done remotely or virtually is better than anything in person. He says that basic recommendation will remain as long as there is a pandemic in the world.
