The cause of a fire that destroyed a Saskatoon home early Sunday morning is still unknown. At approximately 1:11 a.m the Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple 911 calls regarding a home in the 300 block of Johnson Crescent. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one aerial ladder truck, one fire investigation unit, and one battalion chief were dispatched for response.

When fire crews arrived they found a detached garage on fire that was extending towards the rear of the house, and some power lines in the area had fallen. Firefighters were able to protect neighbouring homes while battling the high heat conditions and a the compromised structural integrity of the building. The fire was brought under control at around 3:00 a.m.
Two people who had been unaccounted for, a man and a women, were confirmed to not have been at home during the time of the fire but two deceased dogs were found by the fire crew.

The fire remains under investigation, the house and detached garage are considered a total loss with damage approximated at $400,000. A cause will be provided when it is determined.
