The Saskatoon Fire Department says a house fire in the 900 block of 2nd Street East is accidental.
The call came in at 6:53 pm Wednesday and when they arrived four minutes later, there were no signs of smoke or fire visible from outside. Two people from the home had self evacuated and the family pet, a large dog, was safe in the back yard.
It took 10 minutes to put out the fire inside the home and fire crews searched the house to ensure there was no further extension of the fire then ventilated to clear out the remaining smoke and carbon monoxide. No one was hurt in the fire and damage is estimated, by the fire investigator, at $10,000.
