A 1 in 35 year runoff event is expected this week.
The Water Security Agency says rising water levels and flooding are expected on the Beaver River, because of significant rainfall in Alberta. The WSA expects higher water flows south of Meadow Lake Provincial Park this weekend and heading further downstream next week. It’s expected water levels will rise by about 1.5 metres near Highway 4 south of Dorintosh by Thursday, approximately.
A peak flow is expected around June 25th below the confluence with the Waterhen River at Highway 155. Water levels will be about half a meter higher than they are right now.
The WSA says the impact isn’t expected to be too significant, because there is very little development along the river.
