The main entrance doors to City Hall will reopen on Monday with the resumption of a few counter services, in line with the province’s reopening plans.
The payment centre, customer service and collections counters will be available for in-person visits, but the Director of Corporate Revenue says online and phone service will continue. Mike Voth doesn’t expect people will be quickly lining up to pay property tax bills because of the interest-free deferral to the end of September.
The City has been dealing with revenue loss from Transit, parking tickets and from facility closures, but he doesn’t anticipate any long-term reduction in property tax revenue this year.
The first hour of each day will be for assisting seniors, vulnerable persons and persons with a disability, although no one will be turned away.
There is a 15 person limit in the lobby, so there may need to be a lineup outside. Voth is also encouraging the use of a non-medical face mask. For those wanting to come to City Hall rather than using the city’s online service or phoning in, Voth says you will be met by a customer ambassador or security person who will provide assistance to make sure everyone maintains social distancing.
