During Question Period on Wednesday, the NDP suggested that politics played a role in the operation of the new Crystal Meth Rehab Centre in Estevan.
Opposition leader Ryan Meili says former Premier Grant Devine sent an email about the project about 6 months ago, and now there is $1.4-million in the budget with programming beginning in September.
In the email, according to Meili, Devine says the project is a profitable business model.
Health Minister Jim Reiter says there was no politics involved in the decision to set up the rehab centre in Estevan.
St. Joseph’s Hospital will operate the facility, as it did before the NDP closed it in the 1990s.
Reiter says the facility will be totally publicly funded and no one will be charged to get help. (CKRM)
