Moving further into Saskatchewan’s Re-Opening phase 4.1 the city of Saskatoon gave an update on recreation going forward.
Lynne Lacroix, General Manager of Community Services says 185 of the approximate 285 sports fields have opened, those are the free of charge fields. The charge for use fields will be available the first week of July after additional grooming.
Spray parks are being worked on this week with all 21, fully activated, expected to open on Friday. She says it takes a few days to activate each one.
For outdoor pools Lacroix says they have had some success reaching out to laid off staff. Outdoor pools are getting cleaned up, de-winterized and Riversdale and George Ward pools will be filled soon, for use in the first week of July.
The Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo is currently doing some hiring for staff and also expects to re-open partially by the first week of July.
Lacroix says 21 paddling pool sites will be operational by mid July.
