A man charged with 2 counts of fraud has been sentenced. One count was for a fake GoFundMe page for the Humboldt Broncos called #PrayForHumboldt and the other was for investor fraud where 33 year old Andrij Olesiuk posed as a hedge fund manager for a fake company called Aero Capital and bilked a family for around $65-thousand. His GoFundMe page raised about $38-hundred before it was taken down.
Olesiuk was sentenced to 11 months for the investor fraud and 3 months consecutive for the GoFundMe fraud. He was also sentenced to 12 months probation and he was ordered to repay his victims.
