The 12-year-old boy responsible for starting a fire at a Regina Walmart has been sentenced.
The boy had earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of arson and uttering threats towards an elementary school.
On December 11, the boy walked into the store and lit a fire in the paper towels aisle causing over 10 million dollars damage; closing the store during the busy final days of Christmas shopping. The store did not re-open until January.
The boy was sentenced to six months deferred custody followed by 18 months probation. The sentence includes conditions which call for the boy to stay away from the Walmart or the school in question unless he is accompanied by an adult and to take fire safety education.
