More than 30,000 students, in over 350 high schools across the province, took part in senior level sports in 2019-20.
That was part of the post-mortem from the 72nd annual S-H-S-A-A annual meeting last Thursday. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, provincial individual and team champions were declared in just seven of 10 sports under the direction of the S-H-S-A-A. Basketball and badminton managed to start their seasons, but couldn’t finish, while track and field never got out of the starting blocks due to the novel coronavirus. The Association also handed out service awards to 14 individuals and two merit awards to those for their work with student-athletes during the year as well while honouring retiring executive members and electing new members to the Executive Council. Following is the news release from the S-H-S-A-A…..
