It was a hot July, but not for the Saskatoon and area housing market. The Saskatoon Region Association of Realtors reports that the housing market by sales fell by 9.8 per cent and by dollar volume by 9.4 per cent compared to last July.
SRAR CEO, Jason Yochim, says people might think summer would be a busy market, but spring is actually the busiest in the real estate industry and then it tapers off a bit in the summer.
Year-to-date, the numbers are up over last year. Sales rose 4.4 per cent and the dollar volume is up 2.8 per cent. Listings are down by just over 2 per cent. The average price for a home in Saskatoon in July was $331,780.
