Almost everything business or service that can be open will be open by the end of Stage 5 of the Saskatchewan government’s reopen plan, leaving only large gatherings, long term care homes and hospitals in Phase 5. Premier Scott Moe has listed what comes next.
On Monday, indoor pools and rinks, indoor sports and activities, and the performing arts can all re-open. The seating capacity for restaurants and bars will have no limits, but the numbers have to allow for physical distancing.
Then on Thursday the 9th, casinos and bingo halls are able to re-open, with guidelines in place which are available in the re-open plan on the government’s website. That’s followed by racetracks and rodeo-related activities able to get back at it on July 16th. Moe says the work on guidelines for spectators is still in the works.
On that same day, VLTs, pool tables, dart boards, arcade games and other recreation areas in restaurants and bars can open up again, and live entertainment can return while the usual safety protocols remain in place.
Phase 5 will be lifting the restrictions for large gatherings, but Moe says we need to move forward very cautiously on that front because large gatherings have shown to be greater opportunity for outbreaks. The Premier adds the government and public health is also working to find the right balance for expanding the guidelines to visit loved ones in long term care homes or in the hospital and will have an announcement on that soon.
