Since Canada Day, the Regina Police Service has responded to 6 overdoses, 5 of which were fatal.
The Police Service says it has been tracking a growing number of overdoses, both fatal and non-fatal, reported to the police.
In the last 6 months, there have been 450 overdoses in Regina that are known to police, however some don’t involve calls to emergency services, so the Police Service believes the number is higher.
There have been 23 drug-related fatalities and 16 unconfirmed fatalities since the beginning of the year.
Regina Police are urging the public to be aware of the issue of illegal drugs in the community, and says for those who are struggling, seek medical help in order to mitigate self-harm and become healthy.
