The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit North has now charged a ninth person in connection to the death of Tiki Laverdiere. The RCMP says they recently received information that took them to Edmonton, Alberta and North Battleford.
33 year old Charles St. Savard of Edmonton has been charged with First Degree Murder for his role in Tiki Laverdiere’s death. She had been in the North Battleford area at a funeral in May 2019 when she went missing. Her remains were found on July 11th last year just outside of that city.
St. Savard has been returned to North Battleford from Edmonton and will appear in North Battleford Court Monday morning.
Two of the people charged have already been sentenced. 19 year old Brent Checkosis of the Pound Maker First Nation pleaded guilty in the case to accessory after the fact and was sentenced to 7 years. 55 year old Mavis Takakenew of North Battleford was sentenced to 18 months in prison after also pleading guilty to Accessory after the Fact in the murder of Tiki Laverdiere.
