The City of Saskatoon says despite what you may have heard from a caller on CJWW’s Boots and Salutes their electric bus came with a battery and came with a charging station. The charging station does need to be installed and tested and the hope is that the bus will roll out later this month.
It is a 40 foot electric bus and to buy one is $1.2 million but the City of Saskatoon is leasing the bus as part of a pilot project for 12 months at $9,500 a month for a total of $114,000 for the year.
City officials say the trial with an electric bus was to start when the contract was finalized with the vendor and that has now taken place.
