The NDP has raised eyebrows over Premier Scott Moe’s relationship with WE founder Craig Kielburger. The official opposition noted a $260 thousand contract with the charity to “promote student well-being”.
NDP Education Critic Carla Beck challenged the premier on the timing of the events after he and his wife traveled to Kenya shortly after Christmas as guests of Kielburger.
Premier Moe says the trip was a personal one which he paid for. Moe says he approached the Conflict of Interest Commissioner prior to going on the trip, and he said there was no conflict in this particular case. And, as to the contract with We, there isn’t one as yet. The premier says a number of other provinces have already moved on this pilot program with We and Saskatchewan is not among them.
