The City of Saskatoon’s Governance and Priorities Committee will meet again Monday afternoon to get a better picture at what this year’s municipal election could look like.
With concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic still active, a mail in ballot procedure will be discussed as demand is anticipated to be high.
In order to accommodate the demand, amendments to existing local election bylaws will need to be made. The bylaws must be changed at least 90 days before the election and if successful, will allow for a communications plan, to direct voters on the main-in ballot process.
The civic election is currently due up on November 9th.
Among other topics the G & P committee will also discuss a COVID-19 community response fund for vulnerable people and more allocation for the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program funds from the provincial government.
