Investment in residential construction in Saskatchewan was up 61.7 per cent in May compared to the month before. Across the country, investment rose 57 per cent. Saskatchewan was outperformed by three provinces including Quebec which led the pack with a whopping rise of 235 per cent. Total investment here was $165 million.
On the non-residential side, investment in Saskatchewan slipped 2.4 per cent. Five provinces were actually in negative territory but, despite that, the national numbers showed a rise of 65.6 per cent. Almost all of that can be attributed to Quebec and Ontario which saw increases of about 744 per cent and 108 per cent respectively. Total investment in Saskatchewan amounted to $111.4 million.
