A raft of new charges have been laid against a man who was originally arrested in connection with an unlawful confinement investigation near Isle a La Crosse Lake back on April 23rd. At that time, RCMP were told of a girl being held against her will for four days at a cabin across the lake. The Canadian Armed Forces and the Saskatchewan Emergency Response Team were called in to assist in getting to the remote cabin. Police were able to remove the girl safely and arrest their suspect. The new charges are the result of additional victims coming to police. 42 year old Aaron Gardiner now has additional charges of four counts of sexual Assault, three of Forcible Confinement, and uttering Threats, among others. He previously faced nine charges which include Unlawful Confinement, Assault and Overcoming Resistance.
Police are encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward and speak with the Ile a La Crosse Detachment or the Prince Albert General Investigation Section or Crime Stoppers. Gardiner is next in court in Meadow Lake on August 13th.
