Winnipeg has been selected over Regina as the hub city if the C-F-L is able to play a shortened 2020 season this fall.
“So, we’re disappointed that (the hub city) is not Regina,” said Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe. “But in saying that, if we have to go to Winnipeg to get our Grey Cup, we’ll go do that.”
The C-F-L chose Winnipeg over bids from Regina and Calgary. The deal still needs final approval from public health and safety officials in Manitoba. The C-F-L also says it needs a new collective bargaining agreement with its Players’ Association and significant federal government support to start a 2020 season during the COVID-19 pandemic.
