The SGI Traffic Safety Spotlight is on Construction Zones for the month of July. Meantime, Saskatoon Police Service has recently issued a ticket for $1,688 after clocking a vehicle doing 143 kilometres an hour in a construction zone. The speed limit in construction zones is 60 km/h unless otherwise marked. The Traffic Safety Unit points out 143 km/h isn’t a safe speed on any public roadway but especially for someone working roadside. The fine also came with a seven day impoundment of the vehicle.
SGI also suggests checking the highway hotline for traffic delays in order to factor it into your route. The Highway Hotline can be accessed by clicking on the ‘News’ tab right here at cjwwradio.com. And road construction updates in Saskatoon are readily available on the City of Saskatoon website which you can find here.
