Bruno Cherry Sunday was cancelled last year and when Highway 5 flooded a couple years ago, there was a low turnout so organizers are hoping for good things this year. Bruno Cherry Sunday is August 11th and in addition to a day of food and entertainment, the sour cherry orchard u-pick opens at 8 a.m. that Sunday. Organizer Linda Kramer says there are about 650 people living in Bruno so that means their population can swell to almost double for a day. Bruno Cherry Sunday not only allows Bruno to highlight their town and the prairie sour cherry orchards but it is a fundraiser for several groups who help out providing food. Kramer says the Bruno Lions Club will have cherry smokies in addition to burgers, Bruno School dishes up the ice cream and cherry sauce sundaes, the library board makes sour cherry tarts and the fitness club is doing elephant ears with cherry sauce.
