The Saskatoon Fire Department had to rescue three people who were on an inflatable craft and had become entangled on the river near the Gordie Howe Bridge. The call came in at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday night. No one was hurt but the Water Rescue Unit had to retrieve two people from the inflatable craft while the Saskatoon Police Service located a third person near the shoreline by the bridge.
A few hours earlier, shortly after 6:30 p.m. yesterday evening, the Saskatoon Fire Department was called to a fire at Confederation Mall in Saskatoon where witnesses could see flames and smoke coming from the roof of the mall. It took less than 20 minutes to extinguish the fire and no one was hurt in the blaze. A fire investigator is determining the cause, the origin and a damage estimate.
