Canada’s Conservative Party Leader believes the WE controversy reeks of corruption. Andrew Scheer has asked the RCMP for a criminal investigation, while the House of Commons Finance Committee continues it inquiries into an over $900-million contract given to the organization to oversee a student grant program, while WE has ties with both the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister.
Conservative Party Leader, Andrew Scheer says other organizations weren’t given the opportunity to apply. During earlier testimony, it was stated that WE was the only organization that could deliver such a large program, but Scheer believes there was no due diligence into the state of affairs at the charitable organization. He says if there had been, they would have known the Chair of the Board had resigned and they had broken their bank covenant, among other red flags. The Prime Minister goes before the Finance Committee Thursday afternoon.
