Retiring police officer, Brian Shalovelo, announced his intentions to run in the upcoming Saskatoon Civic Election, on Thursday Morning.

Shalovelo says, after 37 years as a police officer, he feels the time is right to enter in as a candidate for city council. He believes in a platform that emphasizes a back to basics approach. This includes in infrastructure, utilities, transportation, fire and police.

Shalovelo will be retiring from the Saskatoon Police in September, he recently was named as a member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces by the Governor General of Canada.

Ward 8 encompasses Brevoort Park, East College Park, Greystone Heights, College Park, Brighton, Holmwood, Briarwood and Hillcrest Management Area. Sarina Gersher is the current Councillor for the ward.
