The Canadian Elite Basketball League has successfully completed a pandemic-shortened season, thanks to a 16-day Summer Series tournament in a bubble at a hub city of St. Catharines, Ontario.
The C-E-B-L has done what the N-H-L and N-B-A are striving to do…finish a bubble-style season in hub cities without a blemish in terms of a positive COVID-19 case amongst their players and support staff. The 16-day Summer Series wrapped up Sunday with the Edmonton Stingers claiming the C-E-B-L championship. Now, the C-E-B-L’s Western President and Chief Operating Officer, Lee Genier, says it’s full speed ahead for Year 3…hopefully without COVID-19 restrictions.
Meanwhile, as President and C-E-O of the Saskatchewan Rattlers, Genier says he will meet later this week with team G-M Barry Rawlyk for a post-mortem on the Snakes Summer Series performance. The Rattlers were 1-5 and missed the playoffs after winning the championship in season one.
