A man and a woman were rescued from the South Saskatchewan River Tuesday afternoon by the Saskatoon Fire Department’s Water Rescue Unit. A 911 call came in around 5:40 about people holding onto logs downstream of the University Bridge. One person was rescued about 225 meters upstream from the buoys and the second was rescued further downstream. Neither was wearing a life jacket. The two were brought to shore, assessed by paramedics, and then were turned over to Saskatoon Police.
