A 31 year old Saskatoon man is facing drug possession charges along with Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon charges. the incident began shortly after midnight [wed] when a Canine Unit tried to conduct a traffic stop on the 300 block of Havilland Crescent. The driver refused and police say began driving erratically. The vehicle was abandoned on the 100 block of McCormack Road and the driver fled. He was caught with the help of a Police Service Dog. The suspect was taken to hospital before he went to detention. Police allege that he had crystal methamphetamine and cocaine on him. Bear spray and a backpack containing items consistent with drug trafficking were said to have been in the abandoned vehicle. In addition to the charges, police say the suspect was found to be breaching his probation and was wanted on two outstanding warrants.
