Roughly 61 million containers were collected at SARCAN depots in Saskatchewan in July, which broke a record that was previously at 47 million.
That demand hasn’t decreased going into August, as many depots are reporting wait times of around an hour and a half.
Communications manager Sean Homenick says drop-and-go service has seen an increase in usage since depots re-opened in mid-June.
He says it provides the lowest amount of contact and usually, is the quickest way to visit SARCAN.
Staffing numbers have also increased to help deal with the demand. While normal staff numbers sit at 700 for this time of year, Homenick says 980 people are currently working for SARCAN.
