A video of vodka being poured over ice from a Saskatchewan micro distiller has gone viral on Facebook, with over 13-million views (as of Friday). Spokesperson for Last Mountain Distillery out of Lumsden, Braeden Raiwet, expects it’s because it’s bright blue. He explains Prairie Blue Vodka is made from blue pea flower. People from around the world have watched it, from Europe to Asia, the U.S., India and Australia and they have been asking to buy it. That’s a problem, though. Raiwet says because of some of the regulations, they can only ship throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba. They aren’t able to introduce their product elsewhere yet, but he hopes that will change. He explains that having their products available in a larger market doesn’t just help them, or any other micro distiller or craft brewer, it also helps the producers that grow the needed ingredients.
