RE/MAX says that in the first quarter of the year, the average residential sale price for a single detached home in Saskatoon was $369,325 dollars. By the beginning of this quarter, that had risen to $381,016; a 1 per cent increase. There was a decline in price though for the average condominium or townhouse from $247,871 to $242,378; a drop of 2 per cent. Regina, on the other hand, saw increases of 5 per cent and 2 per cent respectively.
RE/MAX says, while COVID-19 lockdown in March and April slowed down the housing market in Western Canada, transactions in Saskatoon resumed by May, with sales in both May and June surpassing year-over-year levels. Saskatoon experienced its busiest June in years. The momentum is anticipated to continue into the fall. Brokers and agents are estimating a three per cent increase in average residential sale prices for the remainder of the year. Buyers have not indicated a concern about a potential second wave of COVID-19 impacting their real estate search.
