A single vehicle crash caused a significant power outage this afternoon (Thurs).
The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to an accident in the area of Faithfull Avenue and 42nd Street just before 1 where a vehicle hit a power pole, knocking down many live power lines.
Emergency crews arrived to find a power pole collapsed on top of a vehicle and a significant amount of transformer fluid leaking on the ground.
Multiple utility providers were alerted and an environmental clean-up company also responded.
The driver, who was the only one in the vehicle, was medically assessed and transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.
The Fire Department says the driver may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the accident.
It took just under 3 hours for power to be restored in the north industrial area.
