There will be no charges laid against anyone involved in the incident where an amber alert was issued Wednesday morning.
At the time, the public was told a 4 year old girl was missing from a home on Devonshire Crescent.
Police said at the time that the girl had been missing since 2 a.m. on Tuesday and was reported missing at 9:30 that night, and the amber alert was issued at 8:30 the next morning and called off a half hour later when a woman heard the alert and called to tell police she had the girl in her home.
The Police Service isn’t able to divulge many details but says the mother believed the child was in the care of a friend, and when she realized that wasn’t the case, she searched for her daughter herself before alerting the police.
The woman who had the girl told detectives she left the Devonshire home with the child after a fight broke out inside.
Police alerted the Ministry of Social Services when the child was found.
